Cameron uses a mansion analogy: to reach full Christianity (top floor), you must first enter the ground floor (theism — belief in a creator/designer being). You cannot jump to Christianity without first establishing theism. He identifies the argument from contingency as the best argument for the ground floor (God's existence).
