Colossians 1:20 — 'all things' reconciled through the blood of the cross supports universal extent
Winger turns to Colossians 1:20 as a secondary passage confirming the universal extent of the atonement.
Colossians 1:20: 'through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.' Context (vv. 16-17) uses 'all things' for all created things — visible, invisible, thrones, dominions, rulers, authorities. The same 'all things' in v.20 therefore encompasses all of creation including all humans. Reconciliation is universal in extent. Application is conditional: v.21-23 says 'he has now reconciled … if indeed you continue in the faith.'
