Paul's 1 Thessalonians 4 passage on resurrection and the coming of Christ

In 1 Thessalonians 4, Paul comforts Christians who lost loved ones: when Jesus returns, he will bring those who died as Christians back with him, and the dead in Christ will be raised first. Licona resolves the apparent tension: disembodied spirits come back with Christ and are reunited with their resurrected bodies. This is a bodily, physical, transformative resurrection — exactly the kind Paul associates with Jesus.
