Christ's work is not applied until belief; payment and application are two distinct moments
Positive resolution to the double payment problem.
The payment for sin at the cross and the application of that payment (forgiveness, justification) are two distinct events. The payment is objectively made for all; the application happens when one believes. The mere provision of a payment does not remove guilt until it is received. This resolves double payment without requiring limited atonement.
