Q&A: Is it wise to tell someone their deceased Catholic loved one is in heaven?

Stop Saying All Roads Lead to God! 01:07:37 – 01:09:09

Viewer question from Hannah Elizabeth

Winger resists making proclamations about individual eternal states because that would be presuming a role he does not have. Being Catholic does not preclude salvation — many Catholics do not know what Catholicism teaches, and some genuinely trust in Christ. The key question is: did this person actually believe the gospel and trust in Jesus? And does their life give evidence of genuine faith? If one does not know, it is okay to acknowledge that. What Winger does know: Jesus is the way, God is gracious, and whoever turns to him will be saved.
