How to start reading the Bible — begin with the Gospels, Acts, Romans, Hebrews; not Genesis-to-Revelation in order

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 4) 00:43:49 – 00:45:20

Question from Dallin Byrd about the best starting point for Bible reading.

Recommended order: (1) One Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John) to get Jesus's ministry, death, and resurrection; (2) Acts for the early church; (3) Romans for core theology; (4) Hebrews for OT-NT integration. Then move into systematic OT study, possibly reading OT and NT in parallel. Reading the Bible cover-to-cover from Genesis is not ideal because the Bible is 66 books with progressive revelation — start with the clearest final revelation (Christ) and work backward/outward.
