Psalm 37 in context is an encouragement to the righteous who are NOT experiencing abundance, not a promise of material wealth

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 17) 00:10:18 – 00:11:48

Contextual reading of Psalm 37 to correct the Word of Faith misuse

Psalm 37 opens by addressing those who are fretful because the wicked seem to prosper. The psalm's promise is eschatological/future — eventually the wicked will fade and the righteous will inherit the land. "Delight yourself in the Lord" means the Lord Himself becomes the desire of your heart. If you truly delight in Him, what you desire IS Him and relationship with Him. The verse is encouragement in having little, not a formula for getting much.
