Psalm 37 presents future divine justice as the basis for present contentment amid the prosperity of the wicked

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 17) 00:11:48 – 00:13:49

Continuing contextual walk through Psalm 37

The psalm counsels: trust, do good, be still, wait, refrain from anger. The future judgment of the wicked is certain — "the wicked draw the sword; their sword shall enter their own heart." The meek shall inherit the land (echoed by Jesus in the Beatitudes). Anxiety over the wicked is itself cautioned against — "fret not yourself, it tends only to evil." The psalm is a zoom-out view of final justice, not a wealth formula.
