The feeling of "not being there yet" in Christian growth is healthy when it motivates pressing on rather than giving up
Question from Derry Draws about how to grow spiritually when the fire feels gone
Most Christians feel they have never arrived at the level of faith they think they should have. This is healthy. The calling of Christ is absolute holiness and total selflessness — a bar so high we will always feel we fall short. Philippians 3:13-14 — Paul says "I do not consider that I have made it my own... I press on toward the goal." The sense of not-yet should produce pressing on, not pulling back. When it produces pulling back, something is wrong — you are treating the calling like a qualification. You are qualified by grace, justified by Christ. The calling draws you forward; it never disqualifies you.
