Christ as Second Adam — taking on human form to represent all humanity and reverse the curse

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 23) 00:12:12 – 00:13:42

Christ's incarnation was not only to die but to serve as the representative of all humanity, reversing the curse of the first Adam.

Just as Adam represents all humanity in the Garden (his sin equals our fall), Jesus represents all humanity on the cross. Symbolic correspondences: Adam's tree of the knowledge of good and evil / Jesus's cross as a tree; thorns growing from cursed ground / Jesus wearing the crown of thorns; Adam's labor under the curse / Jesus coming as a servant. Jesus fulfills every element of the curse placed on Adam by bearing it all on the cross.
