Why 'sons' should not be translated 'sons and daughters' in Galatians — the sonship status concept

The Egalitarian "Silver Bullet" Bible Verse: Women in Ministry part 7 00:25:31 – 00:27:03

Mike explains the cultural significance of 'sons' language in the passage.

In Galatians, translating 'sons' as 'sons and daughters' would lose the meaning. The point is that daughters are given the status of sons — not that everyone is male, but that everyone receives the elevated legal status that sons had in that culture. Sons had different status than daughters: full inheritance, carrying the family name, more rights. The passage teaches that all believers — including women — receive this elevated sonship status.
