Where are we judged — earth, heaven, or in between? Eschatological timeline

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 24) 00:49:11 – 00:51:20

Damon Brook asks where humans are located during the final judgment.

Mike's eschatological framework: (1) Judgment of believers at the beginning of the thousand-year reign — at Christ's second coming to earth; may occur near or on earth or in the sky above it. (2) Resurrection of the unsaved dead and second death at the end of the millennium — also seems to be on earth. (3) After the millennium: recreation of heaven and earth; New Jerusalem descends out of heaven onto the new earth (Revelation 21). Heaven and earth merge. In the New Jerusalem, no need for the sun because God's glory illuminates it — but this does not necessarily mean there is no sun on the new earth at large, only that this city is lit by God's glory. So the location of judgment is effectively earth in all cases.
