Daniel 11:36-45 — Antiochus IV or the Antichrist?

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 27) 00:07:42 – 00:12:19

Listener Stephen (Passenger Ministries) asks whether Daniel 11:36-45 refers to Antiochus IV Epiphanes or the future Antichrist.

Mike reads Daniel 11:36-45 in full. He notes Daniel 11 is the most complex prophetic passage in the Bible with over 100 prophecies. He has a prior teaching in his "Evidence for the Bible" series that stops at the point where the text shifts. Antiochus IV Epiphanes was a historical figure (~160 BC) who desecrated the temple, persecuted Jews, and preceded the Maccabean revolt. First and Second Maccabees (non-canonical historical works) document his actions. Mike argues Antiochus is a partial but not total fulfillment of the passage.
