Galen: the brain dwells in the head 'like the great king' in an acropolis; most people believed the head contained all senses like guards of a king

Male Headship: Is it REALLY Biblical? Women in Ministry part 8 00:25:33 – 00:26:37

Mike presents Galen's own words about the head's function and what ordinary people believed.

Galen wrote that the brain in the head is like 'the great king' dwelling in 'an acropolis,' and that the head is 'the home of the rational faculty.' Crucially, Galen also reports what common people thought: 'To most people the head seems to have been formed on account of the encephalon and for that reason to contain all the senses like servants and guards of a great king.' This directly contradicts the egalitarian claim about popular belief.
