Analyzing the nature of Deborah's authority over Barak
Some argue Deborah didn't really command Barak — she said 'has not the Lord the God of Israel commanded you?' creating separation between the command and herself. But Judges 4:14 is more forceful: 'Deborah said to Barak: Up! For this is the day in which the Lord has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the Lord go out before you?' Here she uses her own words and it feels more commanding, even as she refers to God's authority.
