Payne's view: 'glory of God' and 'glory of man' have different meanings for men vs. women
Mike critiques Payne's inconsistent interpretation of 'glory.'
For Payne, man as 'glory of God' means men shouldn't look effeminate. Woman as 'glory of man' means she is his proper sexual partner. Mike objects: you cannot translate man being God's glory the same way (that would make man God's proper sexual partner). This inconsistency -- interpreting the same word differently for men vs. women -- is a recurring egalitarian problem.
