Question 13: The testicle theory -- Troy Martin's claim about peribolaion

All The Head Covering Debates (1 Cor 11): Women in Ministry part 10 05:24:36 – 05:26:08

Mike introduces the most controversial recent interpretation.

Troy Martin argued that Paul's argument from nature (vv.13-15) is really based on ancient medical thought that women's hair functioned as a sperm receptacle. In verse 15, peribolaion (covering) actually means 'testicle.' Martin says if you understand this, the 'true meaning' of 1 Corinthians 11 is revealed. Michael Heiser popularized this through his Naked Bible Podcast (#86). Mark Goodacre published a response; Martin counter-responded.
