NT Wright on Romans 16: women as church leaders and Phoebe as letter bearer

Women Leaders in the New Testament: Women in Ministry part 4 00:01:38 – 00:02:08

Continuation of Wright's argument about Romans 16.

Wright claims Romans 16 is 'explosive' because Paul greets many church leaders in Rome, many of whom are women in leadership 'in their own right.' He identifies Junia as an apostle and says the first woman mentioned (Phoebe) is the bearer of the letter to Rome, making it probable that the first person to expound Romans was a woman deacon from the church in Cenchreae.
