Mike checks major English translations to see if any support Payne's reading.
Mike checked 12 translations (ESV, NKJV, NASB, LEB, NCV, RSV, NIV, NRSV, HCSB, CSB, NET, ISV). All 11 major translations use terms like patron, helper, benefactor, great help, or assisted. The only translation calling Phoebe a 'leader' is The Passion Translation ('she's been a great leader and champion for many').
