Greg, that is really good insight. Got me to thinking.

I suspect that there is much more bully mentality in group hierarchalists (those who elevate one group of any sort over another)than I’ve been aware of in the past. One thing a bully does is control by fear. Most people will reward a desired action. But the bully mentality goes further and aggressively chastises the unwanted activity and seeks to disallow thinking for oneself. A bully demands compliance in a strong coersive manner.

All of this is done by the leaders and active proponents of gender hierarchy, some more than others.

For those of you who wonder if talking on forums can produce paradigm shifts, it can. I’ve been on many forums over the last several years. Not only have I seen people change their views, but I’ve seen wounded individuals find some comfort.

It is rarely the one you are discoursing with who changes course, but the onlookers. Although I have had experiences where a handful of people whom I have debated with have adjusted their views. What is always rewarding is when suddenly you find your arguments and research passed on by others. If what you say makes sense, someone will see it and be blessed by it.

Don wrote: “As Del Birkey says, “Patriarchy happens.” When men rule over women, then men rule over other men. This is the way of the world and allows giant organizations to be formed. But the body of Christ is not to be like that, the hierarchy is flat.”

Exactly Don. The body of Christ works as a team of gifted leaders and supporters. We work together to do the work of God through the interdependent gifts of the H.S. The only hierarchy is an inverted one tier of Christ dying to lift us up. Christ came under us to enable us.

Those were amazingly ignorant words from MacArthur. The blind leading the blind. The blind blinding the limited of sight.

The extra Biblical stuff they are teaching them is leading further away from the presence of God and they have no clue, as well they do not seem to care as long as their place is secured in their hierarchy of control.

I had not heard these extreme teachings before. Thank you for letting me hear them. And thank you for being the light shining in the darkness. Keep shining. 🙂

Kerryn,

good thoughts.

In addition how would the man have known that the creature before him was “from his side”? He couldn’t. Unless God told him. And what would God has said? He likely would have said this is your ezer (help) taken from your side. Hence the hebrew words would have been the same that the man repeated only he repeated them in poetic fashion. He might have even been singing them. Thus was born the first love song.

It is of note also that likely God sat with Adam while he named the animals naming them probably from different characteristics that he saw. There is no indication that Adam thought what he was doing was in any way “taking authority” over them, but an exercise of discovery. With the same curiosity and joy of discovery it would not be surprising that Adam would “play” with the words as he learned to do in naming the animals. I suspect this is where humans received the ability to have poetic thought. Some day I’d like to sit down and go through all the Hebrew names of all creatures and “discover” how much the sound of the words and meanings related to each creature. 🙂

Here’s another one for you:

“God is a God of authority. The Son and Holy Spirit are under the authority of the Father, and the result of being under that authority is that they always do the Father’s will. The reason this fact doesn’t offend the Son and Holy Spirit is because God is an infinite Fountain of goodness who uses authority for the ultimate good.”

See anything wrong with this? This person doesn’t believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all have the same will. He believes that the Father is superior to the Son and H.S. and then transfers those ideas to men and authority. tsk tsk.

Is it any wonder our universal church is in so much trouble. 🙁

Yes, of course many including myself will miss your unique insights into Scripture.

Prayers gone up for many blessings to you and family.

It is interesting that the gender hierarchalists arguments have been claiming origination of so much of their ideas in the Garden of Eden and creation. Problem is that when the studious go back and look for it, it is not there — just like the story of the king with no clothes parading through the streets and his loyal subjects telling him how beautiful his (absent) clothes are.

And when those with their eyes open point out the absence, they then say we are arguing from silence.

???

Go figure.

Where is the Scripture where Christ says that there must be two witnesses. I’m not imagining it am I? 🙂

One out they have given themselves is that the woman is to do whatever the husband says. If he says he doesn’t want wife to veil, then she is off the hook. Thus, there is evidence that the husband interprets Scripture for the wife. Since the husband is the authority in the marriage he is responsible if he’s wrong. She is off the hook because she obeyed.

Course, they seldom if ever consider the Scripture about Annanias and Sapphira, which blows some of their teaching about male responsibility out of the water. Actually, it also crashes their teachings about Adam as responsible because he’s the male.

Ultimately, this is not complementary teaching, it is patriarchal or gender hierarchy. As one man just pointed out to me, complementary is a gentle term that is used by gender hierarchalists to cover up a much harsher agenda.

Well done Cheryl. Now I will have to go back and slowly analyze that section again.

Is this something new about Grudem and Moore that they are calling women who teach Scripture publically, to repent of sin? Can someone point me to where they say this?
