Mike distinguishes between influence and elder authority.
Influential biblical women: Deborah, Miriam, Mary Magdalene, Phoebe, Priscilla, Junia. The Bible approves of their influence. Influence is not the same as eldership — a state governor has massive influence but is nothing like an elder. Romans 12 gives gifts including teaching and leadership that are accessible to any Christian including women. Women with these gifts should be put into positions where they teach and lead — just not an elder role.
