Titus 2:3: 'older women' uses a different Greek word (presbytis), not the elder office term

Women Leaders in the New Testament: Women in Ministry part 4 01:07:57 – 01:09:28

Mike addresses a less common egalitarian proof text.

Titus 2:3 says older women are to be reverent, not slanderers, not slaves to wine, and are to 'teach what is good.' Some egalitarians grab 'teach' as evidence of a teaching ministry. But the Greek word here is 'presbytis,' not 'presbuteros' (the office term). The ESV translates it 'older women' not 'women elders.' Furthermore, the very next verses specify what they teach: training young women to love husbands/children, be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, submissive to husbands -- which Mike notes is 'not really very egalitarian.'
